Field Messages on the Mobile App

Learn how to read and post Field Messages on a Job using the Workglue mobile app.

Field Messages are how the field and the office communicate about a specific Job. Field Messages are visible to anyone with access to the Job, including the field crew. Use them to update the office on what is happening on site or to ask questions tied to the Job.

How to find Job Field Messages

Field Messages are attached to a specific Job. They appear on the Details page in the mobile app and on the Field Messages tab of the Job in the web app. Anyone with access to the Job can read them.

Reading Field Messages on a Job

  1. Open the Workglue V2 app.
  2. Select the Job from your schedule.
  3. Select the hamburger menu in the top right.
  4. Select Field Messages.
  5. Scroll through messages from newest to oldest.

Each message shows who posted it, when it was posted, and the content of the message.

Posting a Field Message

  1. Open the Workglue V2 app.
  2. Select the Job from your schedule.
  3. Select the hamburger menu in the top right.
  4. Select Field Messages.
  5. Type your message.
  6. Send.

The message is now visible to everyone with access to the Job, in both the mobile app and the web app.

When to use Field Messages

Field Messages are best for Job-related communication that the whole crew or office may need to see:

  • "Customer asked us to skip the back wall, going to confirm with PM."
  • "Gate code 5541."
  • Found additional damage in the basement, need to discuss scope."

When NOT to use Field Messages

Do not use Field Messages for:

  • Private conversations between office users. Use Internal Messages in the web app.
  • General office discussion not tied to a Job. Use Personal Messages in the Message Center.
  • Emergencies. Call your supervisor or office admin directly.

Keep Field Messages short and Job-specific. Long discussions get hard to read on a phone screen, and important context gets buried.

Field Messages versus Job Logs

Field Messages are conversational updates. Job Logs are daily records of work performed. Use a Field Message for "Hey, found a problem." Use a Job Log for "Today we primed the lobby and started base coat on first floor walls."
