Assigning Jobs
Learn how to assign a sales person, project manager, supervisor, and crew leader to a Job in Workglue.
Assigning a Job means putting the right people in the right roles on that Job. Assignments are set on the Overview tab and are used throughout Workglue to organize responsibility, filter reports, and communicate who is accountable for each part of the work.
Assignment fields
Each Job has four assignment fields:
- Sales Person. The person responsible for the sale.
- Project Manager. The person managing the overall project.
- Supervisor. The person supervising the work on site.
- Crew Leader. The person leading the crew on the Job.
These fields are optional. A Job does not need all four filled to be Active.
Who can be assigned
Each assignment field shows employees based on their position in Workglue. Positions are set on the employee profile and reflect the employee's role in the company. The available positions are:
- Account Owner
- Admin/HR
- Crew Leader
- Sales Person
- Subcontractor
- Supervisor
- Field Worker
- Project Manager
Multiple positions can be applied to one employee.
An employee will only appear in an assignment dropdown if their position matches that field. For example, only employees with the Crew Leader position will appear in the Crew Leader dropdown.
Employee positions are separate from system roles. System roles (Owner, Admin, Manager, User, Mobile Only) control what an employee can access in Workglue. Positions describe the employee's role in the company and determine which Job assignment fields they appear in.
How to assign a Job
- Open the Job and stay on the Overview tab.
- Select the pencil icon in the top right of the Job details section.
- Select the appropriate employee in the Sales Person, Project Manager, Supervisor, and Crew Leader fields.
- Select Save.
Assignments can be updated at any time by returning to the edit form.
Scheduling workers
Assigning a Job is separate from scheduling workers. The assignment fields identify who is responsible for the Job. Scheduling determines when and which workers are on site.
